Own A Construction Company? 3 Types Of Lights You Can Use After Dusk On Your Sites

by Ethan Mccoy

If you have ever had to keep your workers going after the sun goes down, then it is important that they have the proper lighting so they stay safe and are able to complete their jobs.  Below are three types of lighting you can choose from to help you determine what would work best for your construction company.

Tower Lighting

Tower lighting is numerous lights that are mounted to a large, durable arm. The arm can hold the lights at different heights and angles so light can spread over the entire site. The arm attaches to a trailer that has a generator. A vehicle tows the trailer to move the lights from place to place.

Because these lights run on their own integrated generators, you will not need to have any power source close to them. Once you fuel up the tower lights, they will run around the clock to keep the lights going.

The lamps are generally metal halide bulbs with diesel powering the generator. There is also battery-powered tower lighting that uses LED bulbs.

Balloon Lighting

Balloon lights may not provide as much light when compared to tower lighting, but they work well for a smaller construction site. This lighting consists of a large light that looks much like a balloon. The lights can be mounted onto a trailer and moved around via a vehicle, or you can put the lights on portable light towers.

The lights rest on a long pole and casts light all throughout the area. You can purchase balloon lights from a light bulb company, and you can also purchase lights that retrofit light tower lamp fixtures. These lights are often smaller than a light tower so they are easier to move around. They do not have their own integrated generator, however.

Temporary Poles

With this type of lighting, a permanent lighting fixture is mounted on a temporary pole. Once the light is in place, it is hard-wired to an electric source. This type of system is not portable, so if you know you will be in multiple areas, it would not work well for you.

If you choose this type of lighting, you should hire a professional lighting design company to install them for you. This is because you have to install wiring and this can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.

Talk with a lighting company to get more information about these lights, as well as other types of lighting you can use for your company. Contact a company like Knuckle Head Tools to get started.
